As the popularity of car modifications grows, the issue of illegal modifications has also attracted the attention of regulatory authorities. Recently, traffic management departments in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and other cities have launched special crackdowns, focusing on unauthorized changes to the vehicle's exterior structure, such as the replacement of front bumpers, rear bumpers, and side skirts.
According to the "Motor Vehicle Registration Regulations," any changes to a vehicle's exterior contours, lighting layout, exhaust system, or other features that are not registered with the vehicle management office are considered illegal modifications. Violators will be ordered to restore their original condition and may face fines or have their annual inspections affected.
Traffic police remind: "Only legal modifications offer freedom. Car owners are advised to choose compliant products and apply for registration changes through formal channels." Some cities have opened "green channels" for modification registrations, encouraging car owners to meet their individual needs within regulatory frameworks.
